Norfolk’s flying past and present
Over a dozen complete aircraft are on display ranging from the tiny wooden Evans VP-2 all the way up to a huge Vulcan B.2 and the Nimrod MR2.
Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Displays showcase East Anglia’s rich aviation history taking in RAF and USAAF bases in World War II, helicopters, uniforms, link trainers and the search and rescue service.
You can look inside the cockpits of fighter jets and a Cold War bomber and find out how a Norwich firm which started as an ironmongers in 1797, went on to become Boulton and Paul Aircraft Ltd.

Other good things to do near by
Aylsham, a pretty market town, is a 10 minute drive away (continue North on the A140) with Blickling Hall just beyond, and the Bure Valley Railway offering steam train journeys. The Black Boys Inn on Aylsham market place has good food at a good price.
Aviation and defence enthusiasts will also want to visit the Royal Air Force Air Defence Radar Museum at nearby Neatishead.
Travel and parking
Just off the A140 Norwich to Cromer road, between the Airport and Horsham St Faith. Follow the brown signs for “Aviation Museum” and don’t miss the brown sign on the bus shelter opposite the church. Free parking on site.
